    Hi All,

After snapping a bow saw frame, I need to make some new ones, so. I thought I would make a start on getting some of this content organized.

Here is a pictorial writeup on a simple method for making bow saw handles.

    Hi Ray,

great pictorial! But isn\'t it off topic ;) :)

I\'m not serious - do you make a Bow saw? I would love to see more of it.

Hi Ray. I am looking at making some bow saws myself, and would like to know what caused the failure of your 1st saw, and what changes to design you would make with your next one.

    Regards planemaker.

    Hi Planemaker,

It\'s a while ago, but if I remember correctly it was a combination of grain direction and over tightening.

I would try and use riven (split) stock, rather than sawn stock if you can do it.

I have a couple sitting there waiting to be finished.... soon.

    Regards
    Ray
