    Hello everyone,

Two Sheffield saws bracketed the past week for me. First the Spear & Jackson backsaw (already posted) and most recently a T. Sheldon and Son handsaw.

The handsaw has some rust issues and is missing a couple split nuts (that malady seems to plague me these days). However the plate has no deep pitting and is straight, fairly sharp and seems usable.

Does anyone have ideas on the date of this one?

    Here are the photos.

    Thanks!
    Joe

An added note. I just examined the checklist of saw makers on this site and see that possibly the saw dates to the 1840s or 1850s. I should visit that checklist more often!

    Hi Joe,

HSMOB has them from 1841 to 1865 (at Trafalgar Street, just as the medallion says) and so you are spot on, or rather Ray's checklist is.

I see that Bob already has this on this medallions' list, but it is the first one that I have seen for what it is worth.
