I posted a few pictures of my Slack, Sellars & Grayson and Slack, Sellars & Co. saws. Slack, Sellars & Grayson (1833-1856) preceded Slack, sellars & Co. (1860-1910). Their corporate trade mark was \"Speed\" with a flying bird, which you can find in the Trade Marks section here. For some reason my Slack, Sellars & Grayson doesn\'t have the trade mark. I\'m wondering if it was before they adopted the trade mark, or maybe they just weren\'t putting it the earlier saws because it was too difficult to stamp something like that in those days.
Hi Araldite, I think you are correct on both counts, as time went by the marks became progressively more elaborate, I have only seen the \"speed\" trademark in relation to Slack Sellars and Co. They made hand and backsaws up until 1996, and then were purchased by Thomas Flinn in 1999 Slack Sellars and Grayson, were in business from 1833 to 1859.. presumably becoming Slack Sellars after 1859.
