Just a quick question and no pics. this time as I do not yet have the saw - if I ever do unless the dealer drops her ludicrous price. The saw is a skew backed handsaw probably 22\" with a \"wheat\" pattern carved on the handle. It is almost certainly post 1st world war and probably post 2nd world war. Etched on the blade is an image of the upper body of a knight in armour, to the right hand side of which is the word \"Marmion\" and below this are the words \"ground cast steel\" or something like it and the words US made. The medallion is a simple warranted superior one with the words in a circle round the circumference and which sit on a ring of dots with a blank centre. I am assuming that it is someone\'s secondary line or a minor maker. I have Googled it and have not got anywhere. Has anyone any ideas of the manufacturer and the times when they were (are?) operating. Thanks Fred
Hi Fred, A picture would be worth while, I suspect it is probably a Disston with a hardware company brand or distributors brand, about the only other US based company making handsaws after WW2 was Atkins. So could be either. Regards Ray
