    . . . I'm away from home & for some reason don't pop BSSM in my pack; but from what I recall (& from earlier in this thread) Simon Barley would tend to give an approx. date of 1820s-30s to this style of Groves backsaw; & his knowledge of Sheffield saws is unparalleled. I'll post proper images when the pleasingly-unfaffed-with article has arrived . . . .

    Our understanding of dates & so on can change, as further Directories become available: here are: "Richard Groves & Sons" in a column of the 1816-17 "Commercial Directory" Saw Makers entries for Sheffield - ie from an early Pigot's - data likely gathered around Q3 1815:
