Hi all, well here we are in 2020 and we can still find old saws about the place and discuss about them here. I recently came across what I think is a German made 10" 11ppi back saw. It has an open grip beech handle, which is attached with I think rivets rather than split nuts. the medallion reads GERMANIA SAGE with a compass and square logo, which is stamped on the back as well. It is a manufacturer that I have not come across before, but thought South Aust. would be a place to find one because of the many early German ancestors that settled here. Any comments would be welcome. Graham.
The trademark on the German saw seems to be one of Peter Ludwig Schmidt. Some details of this long lasting Manufacturer on Wolfgang Jordan Tools website https://www.holzwerken.de/museum/hersteller/plschmidt.phtml
