    Hello all,

This heavy old saw arrived the other day. The brass spine is 5/16' thick and tapers from 15/16" at the heel to 13/16" at the toe. The blade is thick as well, measuring from .038" to .040". I checked two other saws of the same vintage and type (a Groves & Co and a Sam'l Newbould) and their blades only measured from .030" to .034" thick. Clearly this saw was built to last.
BSSM has Mr Blake for only four years, 1816 to 1820, but his saw is getting on to 200 years old. He did a good job of it.

    Hi David,

There is not a lot to say about your saw except to agree that Mr Blake built a saw to last and it has turned out to be (200 years later) a saw in a condition that I would dearly love to own.
