I thought I’d share this nice dovetail saw I picked up recently. Its in lovely condition and cuts nicely. The user made Mahogany sheath was a nice bonus.
Its marked COPLEY, OAKLEY SE . BS&SM list a number of London Copleys but this was address for Albert Copley until 1912 which I guess is about the date of this saw.

Thank you for sharing - a really nice quality saw.

Recent research has shown that Albert Copley (bap 1834) was serving an apprenticeship with a Sheffield saw-maker - lodging with the family - after his Sheffield-born parents settled into a new life in St George in the East, London (ie Wapping/'Ratcliffe') in the mid/late 1840s.

Albert Copley's first premises, in Oakley Street, Lambeth, London - along the street from the famous infill plane-maker: John Holland - were taken in succession to the late Samuel Belk, a little-known London saw-maker, also bred & trained in Sheffield; who had resettled in London in the late 1840s.
