Hi - have been researching "TAYLOR LONDON" - (which = Joseph Taylor) focused at present on the period 1817 (or before, ideally) - 1834-ish . . . . 1830s NOT 40s/50s.

At the end of that period, there's this evidence for a trade-contact for Joseph Taylor:

The 4th Edition of Goodman's British Planemakers has Nelson at various addresses (quite possibly the same physical location, in a rapidly expanding neighbourhood) on the Edgware Road, Paddington. In Victorian London the address was #122, & the business was taken over around 1852 by G. H. Buck (later of BUCK & RYAN) . . . the scope of that business appeared to be a tradesmens' tool-shop.

Here's an entry in an 1817 Trade Directory showing Nelson as a "Plain tool maker"

. . . & would be interested to learn the opinion of students of this period as to how Nelson & his premises might have compared to - say - his contemporary Thomas Moon at #145 St. Martin's Lane; described in the same directory as a: "Dealer in artificers' tools"
