Spear & Jackson 14" Brass Back No52

Spear & Jackson 14" Brass Back No52 Etch, this is the most modern No52 that I have found so far, the stamping of the spine had ended some time back. Regarding the etch, is it an etch or are they now printing straight to the blade, it does not appear to be let into the surface, rather more printed .
