    Hello all,
I\'ll try to put some images in my gallery of my two latest acquisitions, a W. (at least I think it\'s W) Tyzack and Sons steel backed saw and a brass backed one by Colver Bros. Ltd. The Tyzack has 10 PPI and the Colver has 15 PPI. I don\'t know yet whether it will come out properly on the images, but the words \"Pilot Works\" appear under the flags of the Colver.
Both are pretty ropey as far as the rigidity of the blade in the handle is concerned and can best be decsribed as what auctionioneers euphemistically call in \"as found condition\".
As to age, once again I haven\'t the faintest idea except for the wide range of dates referred to in the reference section of this site. Can anyone help on this. What I can say is that whilst the Tyzack may have more of a cachet attached to it, the Colver is a little beauty and very good to hold.

Curious reply. I am, perhaps a little like the saws I collect - past my prime and not as sharp as I used to be. Am I missing something

    Hi Fred,

Sorry, I\'ve been a bit slow getting around to replying, we\'ve had a busy time of it the last week or so.

That strange previous post (which I\'ve now deleted) is a spammer, promoting something or other... I need to get a better blocking setup on the forum.

Anyway, back to the Colver Brothers, the \"Pilot Works\" Sheffield from 1879 ( HSMOB ) to 1925 or so..

    187 1893 Kellys 1893 COLVER Robert Saw &c. manufacturer (Colver Brothers Limited) & (Jonas & C
188 1893 Kellys 1893 COLVER (Brothers Limited) Steel, saw, file & machine knife manufact Pilot works, Cotton Mill Row
189 1919 Whites 1919 COLVER (Brothers Ltd.) manufacturers of steel, files, saws, machine 79 Corporation Street & Union Wheel, Alma Street
190 1925 Kellys 1925 COLVER (Bros. Ltd.) saw manufacturers Neepsend & Corporation Street

I\'m not sure what happened after 1925, but that\'s a very pretty little saw. Nice find.

    Regards
    Ray
