    Hello all,

I like this saw a lot. The horns are substantially intact and the blade is nearly straight. The boss, to my mind is enormous for the size of the saw (11 5/8ths inch blade)

BSSM does have a Staniforth mark recorded but this is a variant of the one published and (I think that I have mentioned this before :)), I have a particular liking for cast (hyphens).

For those of you who do not have BSSM, Staniforth is recorded at Hollis Croft, Sheffield between 1821 and 1823 - ish, firstly as Staniforth and Marsden and then as Staniforth and Co.

    Hi Fred,
I like it a lot too. It has a great handle, as you say, and a wonderfully canted brass back. A really good looker that I'd be happy to have.

    Hi Fred,

It's a gorgeous saw & one that has quite an unusual handle- that boss is MASSIVE & looks really cool.
A lovely early saw, & the "dash" is interesting too.
    Thanks for posting it...:)

    Regards

    Mari
