I cleaned up an older 10” backsaw today and found a faint etch. I can’t read the top line but the second line looks like H. L. Wel?baum where the question mark is a letter I cannot read. The third line reads Chicago. The name may be the maker or a retailer. Has anyone else seen this etch? Thanks.

    Hey Tom
Is it possible you can take a pic of the etch? The camera sometimes shows more and this may help fill in the last name. At this point I haven't got anything.

The Etch is three lines of large block letters:
    TRDE—E——-
    H. L. WEL-BAUM
    CHICAGO ——

To help with the dating the sawnuts are screw-type and not split nuts.

Likely a saw made for a retailer, possibly Harry L Weisbaum, hardware dealer
