I have just received this saw. I am thinking it might be a kitchen saw. The logo is feint and incomplete but definitely Spear and Jackson c1850 as seen on page 545 of Simon's book. The teeth cut on the push. I am hoping someone might have access to a Spear and Jackson catalogue of that era, with an illustration to confirm the use. My first new saw find for many years. Your saw has a similar construction to the centre one in this group, made by Peugeot Freres (pic of John Ross's "kitchen saws") Les Fils de Peugeot Frères catalogue (1885) identifies it as a "couteau scie pour jambon" (saw knife for ham)
