Hi All, I recently aquired a Carrick & Craig backsaw . (It is quite a heavy beast.) I reckon it was made prior to 1900/1901 as the medallion shows the Queen's crown of the coat of arms for Queen Victoria. After her death the coat of arms would show the Kings crown of Kings of England. A previous forum thread depicts a later Kings crown. Any thoughts? Jim
Simon's book has them listed as operating from 1893 through to 1959. They were Glasgow based wholesale and retail tool merchants. There is a mark which looks like yours and is dated circa 1900, The Queens crown would seem to set an upper limit of 1901. Best guess would be 1893-1901. Ray
